The BioMedEng19 conference awards include: 

  • Best Student Talk

  • Best Poster Award

  • Best Rapid Fire Presentation  

  • Best UG / MSc Project Presentation Award*

  • Early Career Researcher Award* - less than 5 years Post-Doc after PhD

* - To be considered for this award, please make sure you select it during abstract submission

Please note that proof of status may be requested prior to confirmation of award.

Nominations for the 2019 BioMedEng Innovation Prize and the BioMedEng Legacy Prize is now open - 

  • The BioMedEng Innovation Prize will be awarded to a UK Bioengineer / Biomedical Engineer / Medical Engineer whose imaginative and ground-breaking work has opened up new fields in the discipline and/or led to new technologies that support medical interventions.

  • The BioMedEng Legacy Prize will be awarded to a UK Bioengineer / Biomedical Engineer / Medical Engineer whose career-long research and mentoring have contributed immensely to inspiring and training the next generation of academics, researchers and students in the discipline.

To nominate a UK based Bioengineer/Biomedical Engineer/Medical Engineer for either the BioMedEng Innovation Prize or the BioMedEng Legacy Prize, please send an email with the name, contact details and a short biography of the nominee, as well as your contact details and a short description of why you think the person should be considered for the award to: The deadline for all nominations is 30th June 2019


British Heart Foundation Travel Awards/Bursaries

With a generous contribution from the British Heart Foundation, ten travel awards/bursaries of £200 each are available for PhD students and Early Career Researchers based in the UK to attend and present their research in the field of Cardiovascular Bioengineering at the conference

Versus Arthritis Travel Awards/Bursaries

With a generous contribution from Versus Arthritis, eight travel bursaries of £175 each are available for students based in the UK to present their research in Arthritis/Musculoskeletal Bioengineering at the conference

Please email a BRIEF letter - PDF file outlining your need for support and a reference from your supervisor - PDF file confirming your position to: 


Selection will be based on the quality of the submitted abstract and on the degree to which the extra funding will assist the applicant to attend the conference

The application deadline for both travel awards (BHF & Versus Arthritis) 

is 26th June 2019 (at midnight)
